Effective January 13, 2014, Major General Marke "Hoot" Gibson, USAF (Retired) will serve as NextGen Institute's Executive Director. Dr. Karlin Toner, Director of Joint Planning and Development Office and Senior Advisor to Secretary of Transportation for NextGen Coordination, cited Marke's career-established ability to bring diverse stakeholders, comprising government, industry, and local constituencies, to achieve outcomes important to aerospace and national security.
