Electrical and mechanical equipment worth around Rs 1.5 crore was charred as a major fire broke out at the Kadma-based office-cum-godown of a private firm, which supplies industrial goods to Tata Steel and Tata Motors, in Jamshedpur in the small hours of Tuesday. Police said firefighters averted a tragedy by preventing the flames from spreading to a four-storey residential building, on the premises of which the godown was located.
