(Telecompaper) The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service has issued a fine of RUB 438 million (USD 6.8 million) against Google for abusing its dominant position in the Android smartphone market. This follows an investigation completed last September, in which Google was found to be violating competition law by making device manufacturers pre-install its apps. FAS said this mean other app developers were prevented from having their products on Android phones. The investigation had started following a complaint from Yandex, Russia's leading search engine. Yandex has since started pre-installing its own apps on a number of Android devices.
