(Telecompaper) European smart home shipments reached 21.3 million in the first quarter, an increase of 23.9 percent from the year before, according to the latest study from IDC. Google led the quarter, but smaller producers also marked gains in market share. And while Western Europe contributed the most to shipments (88.3%), growth at Central and Eastern Europe was the strongest, up 31.2 percent. For this year, shipments are expected to rise 21 percent year-on-year to 107.8 million. They will then leap to 183.9 million in 2023, propelled by video entertainment and smart speakers.
