(Telecompaper) Google its consolidating its cloud businesses into a single group headed by Diane Greene, co-founder and former CEO of VMware, said Google CEO Sundar Pichai in a blog post. Google for Work, Cloud Platform, and Google Apps have been brought together in the unit led by Greene. Pichai wrote, "Only a tiny fraction of the world's data is currently in the cloud -- most businesses and applications aren't cloud-based yet. This is an important and fast-growing area for Google and we're investing in the future." Greene has been a member of Google's board for three years. As part of the reorganisation, Google has acquired Bebop Technologies for undisclosed terms. The company founded by Greene provides tools to build and run complex software applications. Greene's team at Bebop will join Google when the acquisition closes.
