(Telecompaper) Google will globally launch its Android One smartphone in India on 15 September. Invitations for the launch have been sent to journalists as well as to Google's partners, including Hindustan Unilever, besides government officials, executives of not-for-profit organisations and others, Business Standard reports. Google senior vice-president Sundar Pichai will unveil these smartphones, with prices of up to INR 5,000. Pichai earlier said that Android One would strengthen Google's position in the low-cost smartphone segment for the "next billion" users, especially in developing countries like India. The devices are expected to be dual-SIM, with 4.5-inch screens and FM radio, powered by MediaTek processors.
