Google to launch smartphones under Pixel brand - report

(Telecompaper) Google plans to introduce new smartphones under the names Pixel and Pixel XL, reports the blog Android Police. The two smartphones have the project names Marlin and Sailfish and would be the first from Google not to use the Nexus brand. According to the report, the Pixel phones would not run stock Android as the Nexus devices do, but instead Google's own variant of Android 7.0 HTC is thought to be the manufacturer of the devices, which will be presented on 04 October. Google already offers a tablet under the name Pixel-C.
