Government moves may prop up sugar industry

Agrarian crisis (or farmers\' crisis) is a politically sensitive issue and the government of the day does not want to take any chance. Sugarcane farmers had long been complaining that they were not being paid at all or properly by mill owners, particularly the loss-making mills. Sugar prices in the domestic market have also been falling for a number of reasons, including overproduction.
