Grand Rapids school board to change grant policy after concerns raised by local foundations

Jahaira Vargas and Jordi Rodriguez give a presentation to a guest at Harrison Park School where artifacts from the Grand Rapids Public Museum tied to the Grand River were displayed on April 16, 2014 by the fifth grade class that spent a week at the museum as part of the IMMERSE program. On Jan. 5, 2015, the Grand Rapids Board of Education will vote on changing its policy for grant applications to improve teaching and learning to allow the superintendent the authority to approve application requests greater than $100,000 without prior board approval.
