Greenbrier's New Orders Suggest Rising Demand

CEO William Furman suggests that this trend underscores a strengthening U.S. economy. The transportation equipment supplier, which had $1.76 billion in fiscal 2013 revenue, said that 15,000 railcar units - including tank cars, small cube-covered hopper cars for sand and cement service and double-stack intermodal units - were ordered in its fiscal fourth quarter, which ended Aug. 31, and through the first two and a half weeks of September.
