Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking a Ground Segment System Engineer with relevant experience for the activities mainly related to the Ground Segment for the Copernicus Sentinel3 mission within the Ground Segment System Engineering Team at EUMETSAT. Sentinel3 is a Low Earth Orbiting mission to support services relating to the global marine and land environments, with highend accuracy and reliability in support of ocean forecasting systems and for environmental and climate monitoring. More information on the EUMETSAT Copernicus missions can be found here httpwww.eumetsat.intwebsitehomeSatellitesFutureSatellitesCopernicusSatellitesindex.html Responsibilities As a Ground Segment System Engineer GSE you will support the Sentinel3 Operations with respect to EUMETSATs Sentinel3 ground segment maintenance and necessary evolutions, including the coordination with other Sentinel3 ground segment centres and core ground stations at architectural and system engineering level, and also for the related functions and interfaces with the EUMETSAT MultiMission Elements MMEs. In addition, you will provide support to the AIV activities during the integration of the Sentinel3 ground segment and coordinate the verification of the new systems and their interfaces into the EUMETSATs Sentinel3 ground segment. Your duties will include a range of tasks, including among others Preparing and providing support to the day to day operation and maintenance of the Sentinel3 Ground Segment Analysis and ground segment level testing of the facilities Handling of the anomalies raised during the operation of the system Design of upgrades and configuration of changes for these facilities at overall ground segment level You will be the focal point when it comes to integrating the individual facilities into a ground segment system, covering all aspects of system integration and testing, including the EUMETSAT MMEs. Tasks under the responsibility of the Ground Segment System Engineer will also consist of the maintenance of an uptodate set of Design and Interface Control Documents for the operational systems, performing technical analysis of system architecture and specification for evolutions or major upgrades of the Sentinel3 Ground Segment. This is a fulltime position with a planned starting date in June 2016. You will be nominally based at EUMETSATs facilities in Darmstadt, Germany. In support to operations, you may be required to provide on call support as part of a team of maintenance engineers, especially for the Sentinel3 commissioning and initial operations phases. Qualifications Competencies You should have the following background At least 3 years experience in the area of System Engineering for the development or major upgrades of Ground Segments of Earth Observation missions, or main components of them, based on large scale software systems Experience in supporting the operations and maintenance of operational Ground Segments or main components of them, as well as in the engineering evolutions of such components, with its test data and test tools, preferably in the area of 24h7d operational remote sensing satellites Knowledge and experience in software development lifecycles, system testing for Earth Observation systems and the Ground System engineering processes and standards i.e. ECSS And the following specific technical skills and experience Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS Experience in Data Processing Ground Segments which are designed and developed taking advantage by the reuse of existing generic infrastructure and functional elements System and Interfaces Engineering experience, in the frame of the development of new ground systems or major upgrades, for operational missions Experience in Integration, Verification and Validation of Data Processing Ground Segments andor its major components.
