POSITION ID 2155 ROLE FUNCTION Ground Segment System Engineer in Darmstadt Germany GENERAL CONDITIONS START April 2015 PERIOD 2 year 2 options for extension, each option stands for 1 year LOCATION Darmstadt TYPE OF BUSINESS Science CONTRACT fulltime employment WORKING LANGUAGE English, French is considered an advantage DEADLINE 12 February 2015 PROFILE The consultant should have the following background Adequate to the requested category N years experience in system engineering for the development or major upgrades including support to operations and maintenance of EO related ground segments or main components of them based on large scale software systems is required. Knowledge and experience is required in ECSS, ISO, Software development related Ground System engineering processes and standards. Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS And the following specific technical skills and experience Experience of ground segments which are designed and developed taking advantage by the reuse of existing generic infrastructure and functional elements System and Interfaces Engineering AIT experience for the development of major upgrades I new ground systems in a 247 operational environment. Good knowledge of at least 2 of the following and an overview of the others o Networking Communications, o Near RealTime Data Processing, o Monitoring and control of satellites, o Monitoring and control of ground systems Experience in Ground Segment I,VV TASKS The Ground Segment System Engineers GSEs shall support the Sentinel3 Operations with respect to S3 Ground Segment maintenance and necessary evolutions, including the necessary coordination with the other S3 Ground Segments and Core Ground Stations at architectural and system engineering level and also for the related functions and interfaces between those ground segment and within the Sentinel3 ground segment including the MultiMission Elements. In addition, the Ground Segment Engineers shall provide support to the AIV activities during the integration of the S3 ground Segment and shall coordinate the verification of the new systems and their interfaces into the Sentinel3 ground segment. The Key Persons duties will include a range of tasks, from preparing and providing the support of the day to day operation and maintenance currently in the preparation phase, the analysis, and ground segment level testing of the facilities which also includes the handling of anomalies, design of upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities at overall ground segment level. The Key Persons will be the focal point when it comes to integrating the individual Facilities into a ground segment system, covering all aspects of system integration and testing, including endtoend testing of the overall Sentinel3 ground segment including the MultiMission Elements. Tasks will also contain the maintenance of an uptodate set of design documents and Interface Control Documents for the operational systems and shall perform technical analysis of system architecture and specification for evolutions or major upgrades of the S3 ground segment. In support to operations, the Key Person may also be required to provide on call support as part of a team of maintenance engineers, especially for the S3 commissioning and initial operations phases.
