We are currently looking for an experienced Ground Segment Systems Engineer to join our international team of inspiring engineers and industry professionals, tasked with driving innovation within the Space, Satellite and Earth Observation sector. This role is rooted in EUMETSATs mission and will provide the opportunity to work with leading IT, Space and Earth Observation organisations and domain experts to make a positive impact on society! BACKGROUND Within the Ground Segment System Engineering GSSE Competence Area of the System Engineering and Projects SEP Division, the Ground Segment System Engineer will be responsible for coordinating system engineering activities aimed at maintaining and evolving ground systems for EUMETSAT and Copernicus missions exploited by EUMETSAT, including system engineering coordination with external partners. DUTIES Provide coordinated engineering support required to maintain operational ground systems and upgrade systems in response to evolving requirements, including maintenance of system level documentation and architectural models Analyse specifications and impacts on system architecture for evolutions or major upgrades to operational ground systems, in order to ensure overall systemscoherence Define the IVV testing approach for evolutions or major upgrades, and coordinateimplement testing, including support to the installation and integration of new components Support coordination with external partners e.g. ESA, European Commission, NOAA, ECMWF, MercatorOcean on ground segment engineering activities and interfaces Perform technology and trend analysis on enterprise architectures, emerging technologies and assess their implications for EUMETSAT and Copernicus missions and systems and interfaces with external partners Support the transition of newly developed ground segments into Operations at system level, including support to installation and integration, verification and validation testing. EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS Excellent salary, of up to Euro 7,500 NET after tax based on skills and experience Flexible working time including additional flexileave Full medical coverage for employee and family Attractive pension 30 days of annual leave 14.5 days public holidays Training and development support Relocation allowance and support if applicable SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Solid experience in the engineering, IVV and maintenance of ground segment systems, preferably for Earth observation missions Proven experience in coordinatingmanaging ground segment system engineering services or teams involved in operations of satellite systems Proficiency and experience in the definition and implementation of engineering processes for sustaining, maintaining and evolving operational ground systems Knowledge of relevant system engineering standards and of methods for requirementsspecification management and verification, with experience in the use of related tools Strong planning, analysis and presentation skills, coupled with a highdegree of interpersonal awareness and experience working as part of team. QUALIFICATIONS University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline LANGUAGES Candidates must be able to work effectively in English.
