Dont miss out on this challenging and rewarding opportunity to join Europes prestigious Meteorological Satellite Agency as a Systems Engineer, managing a configurable, multimission ground segment support environment. The key candidate shall be responsible for a suite of computing hardware and software systems referred to as the Multi Mission Elements MME This suite of equipment provides data archive and retrieval functions, data distribution ground systems monitoring and infrastructure functions for a number of EUMETSAT operational programmes. The successful candidate shall be responsible for the whole system engineering lifecycle from the definition, design, development and integration of MME upgrades each lifecycle lasting approximately 23 years. Candidates require good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate confidently with customers and stake holders, understanding and relaying this information back to the rest of the team. This is a great opportunity for the key candidate to progress and develop their existing knowledge and experience, in particular project management, in an international organisation. Applicants require the following skills and experience Some experience in project management and ground systems development, preferably in the field of Earth Observation systems along with experience in system engineering lifecycle aspects e.g. design, production, integration, verification and validation of ground systems. Technical background in hardware and software ground segment elements. Knowledgeexperience in any of the following would be considered advantageous Data archive and retrieval Distribution functions Ground systems monitoring Support infrastructure functions Project Management methodology e.g. PRINCE, ITIL Candidates require a university degree or equivalent in Computer Sciences or Software System engineering along with a good working knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written. The initial contract will be for 4 years with subsequent 5 year contracts being awarded thereafter, subject to individual performance.
