Handelsbanken net profit up as U.K. push continues

Swedish lender Svenska Handelsbanken AB Tuesday said it continued its expansion in the U.K. during the second quarter as it posted a small rise in net profit, helped by higher business volumes and lower funding costs. Net profit at the Stockholm-based bank was 4.17 billion Swedish kronor in the three months ended June 30, up from SEK4.03 billion in the comparative period last year.
