Earlier this year, Norfolk Southern Corp. wanted to update a restored private rail car once used by one of the nation's greatest presidents, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. But when the workers tried to repair a leaky faucet in one of the bathrooms, they ran into a problem because of the rail car's age.
