Hong Kong closes off by midday on weak US markets, Chinese shares shrug off losses to end firm

Hong Kong's stock market sank on Tuesday morning following a weak performance by Wall Street overnight, while mainland Chinese markets reversed early losses to close the morning session with gains as it was supported by strong market sentiment. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index dropped 1.19 per cent, or 270.32 points to 22,456.45.
