Verizon Wireless , AT&T , T-Mobile US and Sprint's emergence as the top four wireless operators came through an aggressive campaign of consolidation of a number of regional providers, including Alltel, Leap Wireless, MetroPCS and others. All of this consolidation has left the wireless industry with only two regional operators that have over 1 million subscribers .
