DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the eye of Hurricane Andres was located near latitude 14.8 North, longitude 116.3 West. Andres is moving toward the northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h). A turn toward the west-northwest is forecast by tonight. Maximum sustained winds are near 105 mph (165 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is expected for the remainder of today, but a gradual weakening should begin on Sunday. Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 160 miles (260 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 970 mb (28.65 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
