DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 AM HST (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Felicia was located near latitude 14.9 North, longitude 125.3 West. Felicia is moving toward the west-northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue through early Sunday. A turn toward the west is anticipated by late Sunday, followed by another turn toward the west-southwest early next week. Maximum sustained winds remain near 145 mph (230 km/h) with higher gusts. Felicia is a category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Fluctuations in intensity are possible today, and slight weakening is forecast by the end of the weekend. A faster rate of weakening is expected by early next week. Felicia is a very small hurricane. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 947 mb (27.97 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
