SUMMARY OF 200 AM PDT...0900 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...15.3N 122.1W ABOUT 955 MI...1535 KM WSW OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...80 MPH...130 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...WNW OR 295 DEGREES AT 8 MPH...13 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...988 MB...29.18 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Hilda was located near latitude 15.3 North, longitude 122.1 West. Hilda is moving toward the west-northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h). A slower motion toward the northwest is expected to begin later this morning and continue through early Wednesday. A turn back to the west-northwest is forecast later on Wednesday. Maximum sustained winds are near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher gusts. Weakening is expected to begin later today, and Hilda is forecast to weaken to a tropical storm by early Tuesday. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 988 mb (29.18 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
