DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 900 PM MDT (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Sergio was located near latitude 10.9 North, longitude 112.0 West. Sergio is moving toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h), and this general motion is forecast to continue through tonight. A turn toward the west-northwest is expected on Tuesday and a northwestward motion is forecast on Wednesday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 75 mph (120 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is expected during the next couple of days. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles (205 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 992 mb (29.30 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
