DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Sergio was located near latitude 11.8 North, longitude 115.8 West. Sergio is moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h). A west- northwestward to northwestward motion is anticipated over the next few days. Maximum sustained winds remain near 115 mph (185 km/h) with higher gusts. Sergio is a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, with weakening expected to begin on Friday. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 150 miles (240 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 965 mb (28.50 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
