Don't venture outside when the calm eye of the hurricane passes over, as dangerous winds will return very quickly when the eye moves away. Stronger winds, especially in gusts, are likely on high rise buildings. A WeatherFlow station in Harahan, Louisiana recently reported sustained winds of 56 mph (90 km/h) and a gust to 75 mph (120 km/h). An elevated station at Bayou Bienvenue reported sustained winds of 88 mph (142 km/h) and a gust to 112 mph (180 km/h).
