A man falsely reported his wife had drowned in the San Luis Rey River on Sunday afternoon, triggering a large law enforcement response. Around 3:15 p.m., a family riding their bikes along a path from the beach were stopped by a frantic man in his mid-30s who claimed his wife had gone swimming in the river and had disappeared.
