Hyperspectral IR Level 1 Performances and Monitoring Engineer 2013004 Job Description We are looking for a Hyperspectral IR Level 1 Performances and Monitoring Engineer for our client, EUMETSAT. You will apply your knowledge on calibration of IR hyperspectral measurements to contribute to the consolidation of the hyperspectral IR level 1 processing and monitoring in the activities listed below. Activity 1 Hyperspectral IR level 1 sensitivity studies and expertise service You shall contribute to the definition and development of the IRS Infrared Sounder level1 algorithms, performing sensitivity studies on the impact of specific instrument features. Specifically, of IRS with respect to IASI Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer, e.g. the design of the onboard processing, the 3lasers metrology system, etc., to master the instrument and its processing. As such, the studies should investigate, but not be limited to the effect of the inversion of the interferometer direction the spike correction efficiency and limitation the effect of the decimation on the onground processing the effect of the chromatism on the spectral calibration the radiometric transfer function computation Depending on the outcome of such studies and the inputs from industry, you shall make proposals for potential improvements of the processing in order to improve the calibration performances. You shall contribute to the installation and the execution of the algorithms in the EUMETSAT technical computational offline environment TCE and shall contribute to the setting up and maintenance of a dedicated environment for any evolution of the algorithms during the project. You shall establish and maintain a description of the algorithms such that it can be included in the IRS L1 ATBD Algorithm Theoretical Basis Document as well as a short description of the interfaces. Support the required testing and feasibility activity using EUMETSATs TCE environment. Activity 2 IRS level 1 performances tools specification support and development You shall support the definition of the performances monitoring including the associated instrument operations using inputs such as The outcomes of any performances analysis performed by the instrument manufacturer Satellite operations constraints Results of Activity 1 in order to select the most relevant monitoring algorithms and external calibration observations. You shall identify the needs, specify and develop the monitoring tools in order to maintain the products accuracy and possibly produce reference data sets to be used to validate monitoring algorithms. You shall analyse, document and maintain a functional description of the dataflows required for continuous calibration, validation and monitoring, including a description of all required user interfaces. Activity 3 IRS level 0 and level 1 test data simulation You shall support the definition and provision of IRSIASI New Generation NG level 0 and level 1 test data to validate the above activities and additionally to support the IRS level1 processing test plan. The simulation of the test data shall take into account Results of the above activities in order to select the most relevant atmospheric states and the instrument characteristics An extraction of IRS test data plan when it will be available, or IASING test data plan. You shall simulate and document the datasets as well as format them according to the MTG IRS Level 0 1 Format Specifications and IASING L1 Format Specifications. Travel within Europe may be required.
