Thron SDS is seeking consultancy support within the Hyperspectral Infrared Level 2 HSIRL2 team within the Atmospheric Profiling AP section of the Remote Sensing and Products Division RSP. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, evolution, testing, validation and routine monitoring of existing and future retrieval and monitoring algorithms and their products with the main focus on the future MTGIRS Meteosat Third Generation Infrared sounder The candidate will also contribute to the development of prototypre software for the evaluation of new retrieval algorithms for the current and future sounders on Polar satellites. Thorn SDS is an AUG registered business with a local bilingual English German support team in Darmstadt. We specialise in the supply of staff and services into the space and security sectors and are particularly interested in speaking to existing contractors at EUMETSAT that may be searching for a cost effective employment partner. All applicants shall have a minimum of three years experience in the field of scientific computing and have knowledgeexperience in each of the following Numerical algorithms Development and testing of complex scientific software Handling and processing of big amounts of data Object orientated techniques for scientific computing Software tools for revision control A high level of knowledge in programming language, preferably C Advanced use of data analysis and visualisation with tools like Perl Data Language PDL, Matlab, IDL or equivalent preferably with satellite data Applicants shall have a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as computer science, mathematics, physics, astrophysics, meteorology or remote sensing along with the ability to write concise and comprehensive scientifictechnical reports. The working language for this position is English, however, French andor German would be considered to be an advantage. A generous relocation package is offered with this role if required.
