IT Systems Engineer EUMETSAT is Europes meteorological satellite agency monitoring the weather and climate from space 24 hours a day, 365 days a year Working for EUMETSAT, you can make a world of difference and be a part of something that makes a positive impact on society. You will be at the cutting edge of satellite technology, with a meaningful role in an organisation focused on spacebased observations of the Earths weather and climate. This position is located within the EUMETSAT General Services Division GES, which is responsible for all facility management and site infrastructure projects and services at EUMETSAT. The GES specificspecialised tools and systems for building monitoring and building security systems are hosted on a dedicated secured IT infrastructure. EUMETSAT has two dedicated IT Divisions, one responsible for the generic office IT infrastructure and a second one responsible for the IT infrastructure required to operate EUMETSATs satellites and IT Security matters. The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, development and management of the GES IT Infrastructure, hosting building monitoring systems for power, security and HVAC and associated applications and documentation. Furthermore, heshe acts as interface to the dedicated IT Divisions. HeShe will coordinate the support provided to GES by these IT Divisions for all IT tasks that are not part of the GES IT Infrastructure. The IT Systems Engineer is a member of a team of engineers and technicians maintaining the technical building facilities. What youll be doing Act as the interface to the IT Divisions, manage and support the GES IT Systems Infrastructure with its servers and applications and the physical network infrastructure related to the facility management and site Ensure and monitor regular servicing and maintenance of all GES systems inside the IT infrastructure, including the procurement and management of support contracts of the hosted applications Support all facility management and site infrastructure activities at application and IT Systems Infrastructure level Implement and ensure compliance with applicable internal regulations of the EUMETSAT Information Security Management System ISMS based on ISOIEC27001 Plan the renewal and future development of all systems of the GES LAN and its network infrastructure, and support the budget and end of life planning for these systems. An additional vocational training in a technical discipline related to facility or building systems would be an advantage. Skills and Experience Proven experience in the design and operation of complex IT systems, including servers, operating systems based on MS Windows, application handling and networking infrastructure. Knowledge of Linux based systems would be advantageous Expertise in the field of critical building monitoring systems and experience working in a full time 247 operational environment would be advantageous Knowledge of applicable German and European regulations for information technology such as EN, DIN and quality management based on the ISO 9001 standards Good knowledge of standard office applications like MSOffice and Outlook, a certain knowledge of AutoCAD, CAFM and Project Management tools would be advantageous Strong analytical, problem solving, planning and communication skills, and the ability to work within a team.
