In high valuation market, look for low debt levels

After six years of a rising market, bargain-priced stocks of well-run, high-quality businesses have become scarce, says Dan Sievers, a Milwaukee research analyst. "We always consider price to be paramount in these periods of high equity market valuation," said Sievers, who is with Fiduciary Management Inc. "And you have to pay attention to business quality and balance sheet health."
