Airbus Defence and Space is a division of Airbus Group formed by combining the business activities of Cassidian, Astrium and Airbus Military. It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy for an Infrastructure Support Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Guildford. You will be responsible for the management of the daytoday availability of the operational infrastructure of ESA systems. Support for the identification, investigation and resolution of operational issues. Support for the implementation of new operational services. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Day to day monitoring of the operational platforms, provisioned network services and system and network security. Identification, investigation, resolution and reporting of system, network and security issues. Use of ticketing systems. Ensuring the provision of the required level of service is delivered to customers. Liaison with customers, maintainers and SupportIndustrial Teams. Generation of statistics and reporting for operational contracts. Provision of technical input for proposals. Provision of technical support to PDGS Services Operations Manager. Attendance to technical meetings for both Customer and Business. Identification, recommendation of new operational hardwaresoftware. Support for network design and implementation as necessary. Implementation and support of virtualised environments VMware. InstallationIntegration of new hardwaresoftware. OS installation and configuration. Security patching of OS. Support of data management and dissemination activities. Implementation of storage devices NAS. BackupRecovery Business Continuity. Preparation of technicaloperational documentation. Review and update of technicaloperational documentation. Provision of support to other areas of the business as required. Keep abreast of new technologies and operational practices. Awareness of Quality, Environmental and Security standards as appropriate to the tasks in hand. Ensuring physical security of the site and operational facilities are maintained in accordance with company policiesrequirements. Other tasks relevant to the business as directed. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Proven experience supporting Business Critical Infrastructure and Services. Proven experience with Linux is mandatory. Experience of Datacentre operations. Knowledge of Storage technologies. Experience of handling and managing large volumes of data. Infrastructure Design Implementation. Knowledge and hands on experience of installation, configuration and integration of hardware Rack maintenance servers, network switches, etc.. Experience of Cisco Nexus and 6500 chassis would be an advantage. Knowledge of Network Monitoring and Security would be an advantage. Knowledge of Juniper network devices would be an advantage. LinuxUnix Administration. Strong problem determination and resolution skills. Customer focused and Service oriented. Good communication skills and strong technical writing skills.
