Intel launches platform, products for IoT

2014-12-10 09:59:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Intel has unveiled its Intel IoT Platform, a set of tools, chips and software for the Internet of Things. Intel said the products will make it easy for companies to equip their electronic systems with internet connections, secure them from online attacks and derive value from the data they produce. Intel also announced new deals to develop and deploy systems on the new platform, with Accenture, Booz Allen Hamilton, Capgemini, Dell, HCL, NTT Data, SAT, Tata Consultancy and Wipro. Intel is looking to link its technology to a broader range of device makers and to win order for semiconductors involved in IoT. Intel will also deliver a roadmap of integrated hardware and software products to support the Intel IoT Platform. Spanning from edge devices out to the cloud, the roadmap includes API management and service creation software, edge-to-cloud connectivity and analytics, intelligent gateways, and a full line of scalable IA processors. GM Doug Davis told Bloomberg that the division in charge of IoT will grow about 18 percent to more than USD 2 billion in sales this year. Davis said that the IoT must scale, as billions of devices will be connected by the end of the decade.
