(Telecompaper) Intel's board of directors has elected COO Brian Krzanich as the group's next CEO. He will succeed Paul Otellini, who is stepping down as CEO and from the board of directors at the company's annual shareholders' meeting on 16 May. Krzanich told Bloomberg that he has convinced the board of a strategy to move quickly into chips for smartphones and tablets. Plans will be outlined with staff soon and then to the public. The first actions of the new strategy will be seen over the next couple months, he added. The board has also elected Renee James to be president of Intel, joining Krazanich in Intel's executive office. James was chairman of Intel software subsidiaries Havok, McAfee and Wind River.
