This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. Internet Services Software Engineering Support 1413071 Job Description We are looking for a Internet Service Software Engineer to work at the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites EUMETSAT. The selected engineer will work in the Data Services Engineering Team providing support for routine operations but also for evolution and maintenance of the web application based data services. The main tasks to be conducted include Maintenance of the data services systems Evolution of the web application services Operational Support for web application services Required Skills and Experience University degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline Excellent team working skills, being able to work autonomous and have good analytical skills Minimum 5 years experience in the following areas Exploitation of industry support Highavailability systems Strong technical expertise translating user requirements into software requirements Architectural evolutions and implementation Extensive experience in SW validation and verification. Extensive experience in software development and maintenance using a formal software life cycle resulting in deliveries to customers Extensive experience in the provision of second line support for operational systems Experience in using software configuration management, anomaly reporting and tracking tools Experience in the following technologies Java programming language Java Web based development SpringMVC, GWT in TomcatJetty HTML5CSS3Javascript jquery, bootstrap Oracle JDBC, SQL and PLSQL XML, XML Schema and XSLT technologies Software Source Code control system SubVersion Software Building and Package management ant, maven Unit testing frameworks JUnit Eclipse. Desirable Skills and Experience Development of GIS systems allowing rendering scientific data and making those available using GIS standards such as WMS, WCS, WFS. Experience in integrating and deploying COTS or open source components for geospatial or GIS products and especially satellite or meteorological products. Experience in the following technologies OGC Standards such as CSW, WMS, WCS, WFS, GeoNetwork, Javascript GIS library OpenLayers, Leaflet, ScientificGIS data formats NETcdf, HDF5, geoTiff, Meteorological data formats GRIB, BUFR, Toolbased Software Design UML Enterprise Architect Basic UnixLinux system administration.
