Jamaica Observer: The third annual Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Conference held in Upolu, Samoa in August 2014 highlighted the fact that the future economic development of SIDS will be ocean-based.
Ocean-based economic growth, referred to by the moniker "blue growth", depends critically on healthy oceans. The dilemma is that the quality of oceans is increasingly threatened by the adverse consequences of climate change which, by all credible scientific accounts, is intensifying and accelerating.
