Java Developers for international Space projects Category Information Technology City Leatherhead, Surrey, United Kingdom Position ID J09141823 Permanent Full Time Posting Date 05 October 2014 Posting Expiry Date 01 December 2014 Position Description CGI is currently recruiting a number of developers to join our UK Space Team in Leatherhead, Surrey. The successful candidates will have experience in developing Java, or be seeking the opportunity to crosstrain into Java from another OO language such as C or C. CGIs Space business is headquartered in the UK where we contribute to some of the most prestigious space programmes, delivering systems to clients across Europe and as far afield as Japan. Our systems have supported the missions of more than 200 satellites and enable our clients to deliver earth observation, communications and satellite navigation services. We develop bespoke software and deploy groundbased systems for operational use in various countries, particularly Italy, the Netherlands, France and Germany. Many of our roles present opportunities for travel. Developers in the UK Space Team have the opportunity to grow their careers within the Space sector and have the flexibility to move into other CGI client areas, should they wish. Starting salaries depend on the current level of expertise. Our roles require Security Clearance to SC Level so you must have lived and worked in the EU for the past 5 years, and be willing to obtain this level of clearance if you do not already have it. Experience Qualifications You will have experience in developing Java, or be seeking the opportunity to crosstrain into Java from another OO language such as C or C. You will have a university degree in computer science, maths, physics, engineering, or other numerate subject. You should be familiar with The software design, development and deployment lifecycle Traditional waterfall or formal Agile methods UML techniques Recognised industry standards, covering source control using tools such as SVN, GIT or ClearCase code reviews coverage testing formal defect tracking using tools such as Bugzilla We are keen to receive applications showing interest and experience in one or more of the following high assurance or safetyrelated applications embedded systems realtime near realtime applications scientific or mathematical computing e.g. industrialisation of algorithms, mathematical modelling security related or cryptographic experience At CGI, were a team of builders.
