(Telecompaper) KPN plans to launch 4G services in Amsterdam and north Holland in early February and will take the services nationwide by mid-2014, the carrier said during a press conference. KPN will launch 4G subscriptions with different versions for laptops/tablets and smartphones and consumers and businesses. A subscription providing 50 Mbps download speeds and 5 GB per month will cost EUR 35 per month. For EUR 25 per month, customers will be able to get 25 Mbps and 2.5 GB per month. KPN will offer initially the 4G smartphones Nokia Lumia 920 and 820, Samsung S III 4G and Huawei Ascend P1, as well as the Galaxy Note 10.1 4G tablet from Samsung, a Huawei dongle for laptop users and 4G Wi-Fi hotspot from Huawei. The company is using the 800MHz frequencies acquired last year for the service and aims to offer nationwide coverage by the summer of 2014.
