(Telecompaper) Amazon reported that its own Kindle Fire HD was the best-selling tablet on Amazon.com over the holiday season. "Millions" of people unwrapped Kindles at Christmas, the company said, without giving exact sales figures. The Samsung and Acer Chromebooks and the Asus Transformer Book were the best-selling laptops for Christmas, and Samsung LED HD TVs led the TV category. The company also announced that over 1 million people joined its Prime membership programme during the third week in December, a new record. In addition to free delivery, Prime offers customers free access to the Instant Video service, with more than 40,000 movies and TV episodes. Amazon said its Android Appstore also more than doubled content on offer last year, reaching over 100,000 apps and games.
