Feb. 14, Kroger customers purchased $1 paper "red hearts" at checkout to benefit the AHA and its mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. "Nearly 84 million American adults suffer from cardiovascular diseases, including coronary heart disease, heart failure, stroke and high blood pressure," says Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger's Atlanta Division.
