(Telecompaper) LG has announced the imminent launch of the LG Watch Urbane, which it describes as the "first all-metal luxury Android Wear device". An upmarket version of the G Watch R, the new smartwatch will be presented at the upcoming MWC 2015 in Barcelona. The device is crafted around the same 1.3-inch full circle P-OLED display as the G Watch R but features a narrower bezel that gives it sleeker lines. It has a stainless steel body with polished silver or gold finish and a natural leather strap that can be replaced with any 22mm-wide band. While the G Watch R was designed with the active user in mind, LG said its new device is more formal with a thinner profile that "makes it perfect for either men or women." Like its predecessor, the device is powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, 512MB RAM and includes 4GB of internal storage, a 410mAh battery and an array of sensors (gyro, accelerometer, compass, barometer). It has IP67 rating for water and dust resistance and also comes with a heart rate monitor (PPG) and a suite of health and fitness apps. LG said pricing and exact availability will be announced locally at the device's launch.
