Late Afternoon Fire Scorches 10 Acres in East County

A late-afternoon brush fire that charred about 10 acres in a hilly open area just west of Cuyamaca College Friday was fully contained, a Cal Fire official told Patch Saturday. The fire was moving toward homes and a San Diego Gas & Electric substation but never caused structural damage or injuries.
