This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESRIN, Frascati Italy. DUTIES Under the responsibility of the Vega Exploitation Programme Manager, the postholder will carry out tasks related to the Vega launch system exploitation and in preparation of future development, in particular safety tasks under the direct authority of the Vega exploitation manager, and in coordination with the Launcher Quality Management Office launch system qualification status tasks, under the authority of the Vega Operational Launch System Project launch system support to new development such as Ariane 6, e.g. in support to the Ariane 5 ME Ariane 6 Programme. Safety tasks include preparing the certification of compliance with the Technical Regulations for the VERTA launches according to the French administrative authorities providing the safety technical support to the Vega Production and Future Mission Project for the definition of the needs, for the preparation and the final acceptance of the mission analyses in the frame of VERTA flights in the frame of VERTA Flight campaigns, ensuring the role of ESA Safety officer within the operations team, including the preparation of NOTAM AVURNAV declarations. In the execution of the above safety tasks the incumbent shall coordinate with the Launchers Quality Management Office. Qualification status tasks include coordinating and preparing the safety files for the Verta flights e.g. IXV managing the Vega Launch System Qualification File, assessing for authorisation of any design changes to the Vega Launch System or their constituent elements, monitoring technical and safety qualification status. The task, include the assessment of the required verification, validation, inspection and test activities proposed assessing and managing the technical waivers submitted by Arianespace related to ground facilities evolutions, operational integration process evolutions, launcher modifications, launch service mission outside the qualified domain and all nonconformances list of anomalies and nonconformities, qualification waivers in the Launch System support to VECEP activities, coordinating the master plan for Vega Ground Infrastructure at CSG managing industry requirements for facilities and buildings storage P80, preparation area of solid motors, adaptation EPCU facilities, storage facilities o defining needs considering safety and mainly pyrotechnic rules o optimizing facilities according to the planned activities activities pyrotechnics, fireworks storage and maintenance means and potential synergies between other Launcher Programmes o integrating pyrotechnic constraints in advanced projects considering the implantation area. REXVERTA flight activities following each VERTA launch Campaign. Proposing corrective actions plan and managing the change proposals considering the VERTA Customer Service Improvement and launcher production accompaniment contract, assessing the safety process in response to the proposed changes for each launch campaigns. New development tasks include lesson learned from Vega launch system development and exploitation, for new development such as Ariane 6. The tasks include participation to reviews, analysis of technical files related to safety and definition of the launch system. Support to new development shall be coordinated with the Ariane 5 ME Ariane 6 Programme. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a university degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering field, together with solid skills and experience on space vehicles development. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset. CLOSING DATE The closing date for applications is 24 July 2013.
