Leeds, chairman of Buckingham Capital Management, personally solicited donations over the last decade from friends including Ralph and Ricky Lauren, Jill Stuart and Ron Curtis, Elyse Kroll, Tommy and Dee Hilfiger, Kenneth Cole, Anne C. and Jerome Fisher, Arlene and Morris Goldfarb, Steven Newhouse, Susan and Peter Solomon, Josephine Chaus, Andrew Rosen, Roger Markfield, Abby and Les Wexner, Leonard Lauder, and Jeanie and Jay Schottenstein. More than half the $27 million for the center came from public money, and the remaining was private donations.
