Lawsuit challenges NRC rules on waste storage

It's been a rough couple of weeks for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission -- mirroring the turbulence in the nuclear-power industry it regulates. First came the abrupt resignation of commission chair Allison Macfarlane after she wound up on the losing end of several key votes in which she advocated additional safety measures and the development of a geologic repository for spent nuclear fuel.
