Linking death to caramel apples, Felton family's lawsuit targets Safeway

The family of an 81-year-old Felton woman who fell ill with a bacterial infection and died earlier this month is suing Safeway in a civil lawsuit, blaming caramel apples she bought from the grocery store. James Frey, the husband of Shirlee Frey, is seeking unspecified medical and other damages in the wrongful death case, filed in Santa Cruz County Superior Court on Monday.
