Lockheed Martin in lead to buy United Technologies unit

Aviation giant Lockheed Martin is the top candidate to buy the Sikorsky helicopter unit from United Technologies Corp. in a deal valued at more than $8 billion, according to the Wall Street Journal. Sikorsky, best known for its Black Hawk helicopters, builds and tests the aircraft on a campus it shares with Pratt & Whitney in northwestern Palm Beach County.
