Masco profit beats on strength in plumbing, paint

Masco Corp. reported fourth-quarter earnings excluding certain items that beat analysts' expectations as the building-products company's sales growth in plumbing, paint and installation businesses offset continued weakness in its cabinets segment. The Michigan-based company, one of the largest vendors to Home Depot Inc. and Lowe's Cos., makes such products as Delta faucets, KraftMaid cabinets, Behrpaints and Milgard windows and doors.
