Maxwell Technologies makes ultracapacitors, which store energy for use in hybrid vehicles, wind turbine and other markets - UT-File Photo San Diego's Maxwell Technologies has signed a joint research and development agreement with Corning to improve performance of ultracapacitors - battery-like energy storage devices used in hybrid vehicles and other equipment. Financial terms of the multiyear agreement, announced last month, were not disclosed.
