The former main office building of the state-run Yahata steelworks, which stands in Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp.'s plant in Yahata, Fukuoka Prefecture, is one of 23 facilities forming the 'Sites of the Meiji Industrial Revolution,' which a UNESCO panel has endorsed for World Heritage status. A UNESCO advisory panel has recommended listing Japan's "Sites of the Meiji Industrial Revolution" as a World Heritage site, the Cultural Affairs Agency said Monday.
