BusinessGreen: A host of products and industrial processes are to be phased out from 2020, including some energy-efficient light bulbs, batteries and coal technologies, as part of an international effort to reduce harmful mercury pollution. The UN-backed Minamata Convention, named after the city in Japan that suffered from severe mercury pollution in the mid-20th century, was agreed on Saturday by 140 nations at a summit in Geneva.
