(Telecompaper) Messaging service Line announced that it has passed the milestone of 300 million registered users. In addition to East Asia, where the company started its expansion from its Japanese base, the app has been growing strongly in Hispanic regions such as Spain and Mexico. Currently, the company is focusing on the acquisition of new users in India, Turkey and West European countries including France, Germany and Italy by conducting localized promotional activities and strengthening partnerships with local mobile network operators and device manufacturers. In India, where the smartphone market is expanding rapidly, the offering of localized content and stickers featuring local celebrities has helped Line attract 10 million users within three months of launching on the market. The company aims to have 20 million users in India before the end of 2013. Line's growth has been accelerating steadily, adding the first 100 million users in 19 months, the next 100 million in six months and the latest 100 million in just four months. Line aims to reach 500 million users in 2014.
